The Indian Army and mountaineers celebrated Independence Day by hoisting the flag at historic forts in Maharashtra.
On the occasion of the 77th Indian Independence Day, the Southern Command, Indian Army hoisted the Indian flag at the top of 75 forts in the Southern region of India. Giripremi associated the Southern command in the flag hoisting on 47 forts across Maharashtra. The group of mountaineers and the jawans trekked various forts and hoisted the flag at the top of the forts. Mountaineers helped the jawans, who are from different parts of the country, in understanding the history of courage and valour of the great Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
This was the unique and first-ever association between mountaineers and the Indian Army to celebrate Indian Independence Day. Giripremi coordinated the initiative and helped the Southern Command in planning and organizing the treks and flag hoisting on the forts.
