Why is International Mountain Day (IMD) celebrated?

International Mountain Day is celebrated annually on 11 December to create awareness about the importance of mountains in life, to highlight the opportunities and constraints in mountain development, and to build alliances that will bring positive change to mountain peoples and environments around the world. #MountainsMatter  Giripremi, Pune’s renowned mountaineering club, in association with Guardian Giripremi Institute of Mountaineering, Southern India’s first and only adventure training institute, celebrates International Mountain Day by organising Mountain Run & Mountain Walk events across 11 hills in Pune city.

How Giripremi plans to celebrate IMD 2021?

Giripremi appeals all mountain lovers, nature lovers, adventure enthusiasts, trekkers and mountaineers to participate in event and pay tribute to the mountains which play an invaluable role in our lives. Giripremi’s Everest Summitters will lead the mountain run and veteran mountaineers will lead the mountain walk events.

Duration : 6:30 AM -7:30 AM

Age limit : 8 yrs and above

Participation fees: Free Entry. Participants will get a IMD 2021 badge after the completion of the event.
