About Expedition

Giripremi’s team of 9 mountaineers (6 men & 3 women) attempted Mt. Cathedral (5888 m) in Bara Shigri glacier of Spiti region in Himachal Pradesh during July 2018.

Mt. Cathedral offered challenges of negotiating huge Bara Shigri glacier, crevasse fields, and steep ice walls. 

Bara Shigri is the largest glacier in Himachal Pradesh and comprises of numerous technically challenging mountains. 

On 3rd Aug 2019, 7 out of 9 members reached the summit of Cathedral.

  • Bara Shigri is the longest glacier in Himachal Pradesh
  • Mt. Cathedral offers a 600 ft. vertical ice wall climbing as a chief obstacle
  • Cathedral is surrounded by magnificent peaks such as Kulu Pumori, Kulu Makalu, Tiger tooth etc.
