During 2015, Nepal was struck by a massive earthquake where casualties happened in thousands. In those critical times, Giripremi decided to plan a rescue and relief mission in remote parts of Nepal where medical, food, shelter rations supply was a mountainous task. Thus, a team of 10 strong Giripremians stood up and tirelessly worked serving and safeguarding the tragedy stricken.
Due to this havoc, no expedition could take place during 2015. Thus, in 2016, Giripremi planned a joint expedition to Mt. Cho Oyu & Mt. Dhaulagiri.
Mt. Cho Oyu lies in Tibet region. A team of three highly experienced members Umesh Zirpe, Ganesh More, and Dr. Sumit Mandale marched for Mt. Cho Oyu ascent.
Both Ganesh More and Dr. Sumit Mandale reached the summit on 14th May 2016. Ganesh, who made a 2nd successful ascent of 8000, managed to climb till 7100 m without supplemental Oxygen. While, Dr. Sumit made his maiden 8000er ascent.
Leader – Umesh Zirpe
Team Members – Ganesh More, Dr. Sumit Mandale
