In a powerful display of technical mountaineering, route-finding resilience, and sound alpine judgment, the GGIM expedition team successfully pushed to an altitude of 5,800+ meters on Mt. Sahib Chasa. Occupying Advance Base Camp (ABC) on July 27th, the team launched a rigorous midnight summit attempt at 12:00 AM, navigating the glacier field to reach 5,350 meters by early morning. Demonstrating high-level adaptability, the expedition split into two tactical groups to test multiple ascent lines—tackling steep 70-degree ice walls, dangerous crevasses, and tricky moraine ridges in an intensive 15-hour push to reach within 250 meters of the peak.
Navigating complex terrain including loose moraine gullies, wet soft-snow avalanche conditions, and an unstable overhanging cornice, the team made the crucial decision to call off the final summit attempt just short of the peak. Guided by the invaluable expertise of lead Sherpas, the retreat highlights the core philosophy of Giripremi, placing athlete safety and long-term expedition wisdom above all else.
Three Routes
1. Moraine Ridge
Ascended via the terminal edge of the glacier field; identified as the safest and most practical route for future attempts.
2. Mixed Ice & Traverse
Abandoned at 5,700 m due to rising temperatures and active rockfall hazards.
3. Moraine Gully
Explored through a narrow gully connecting to the upper snowfield.

The Mt. Sahib Chasa Expedition was officially announced in Pune on March 22, 2026, alongside the Giripremi’s Mt. Everest expedition 2026 – flagoff. The mission was launched by Shri Suhas Diwase (Director of YASHADA), Shri Ganesh Jadhav (Founder, Gangotree Homes and Holidays), and Mayor of Pune Smt. Manjusha Nagpure, signaling a bold step forward for Giripremi’s rising climbers.
Though the peak of Mt. Sahib Chasa remains unreached for now, this expedition is far from over—it is simply the foundation for a triumphant return. Armed with invaluable high-altitude experience, technical mastery, and unyielding resolve, our team will complete this dream and proudly unfurl the Indian Tricolour on the summit. However, building world-class climbers requires more than grit; it takes a dedicated community standing behind them.
