Mt. Thelu Expedition 2024

About Expedition

Mount Thelu is a 6002 meter peak in the Gangotri range of the Garhwal Himalayas. Mt. Telugu is situated just adjacent to mount Sudarshan on the Raktavarna Glacier. Giripremi’s team of young new mountaineers successfully summited the mountain on 26th May, 2024.

 

The Giripremi’s Mount Thelu Expedition was flagged off at the hands of Air Marshal Bhushan Gokhale (Retd) and Mr. Dhiren Gupte of SmartMark Technologies.

The team was led by Akhil Katkar under the mentorship of Umesh Zirpe and Sanjay Doiphode, both of whom are senior mountaineers of Giripremi. The team, consisting of Abhay Khedkar, Mihir Jadhav, Nikunj Shah, Manoj Kulkarni, Rahul Sonke and Yash Hange reached the summit on 26th of May 2024.

 

The expedition was carried out in a semi alpine style, wherein the team took support till the base camp but managed everything on their own from base camp to summit, including opening the route, carrying the load, cooking etc.
