Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award
Giripremi’s veteran mountaineer, leader of 8000er expeditions Shri Umesh Zirpe receives the most prestigious and the highest adventure award of India – Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award – Lifetime Achievement 2023 at the hands of Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu.
The second Maharashtrian to receive such honour! A landmark moment for the entire Maharashtra and to the mountaineering fraternity of India!!
Shivchhatrapati Awards
Shivachtrapati Award is considered to be the highest award in Maharashtra in the Sports Category.
Giripremi’s 8000er Expedition Leader Mr. Umesh Zirpe received this award in 2014 for his relentless work in Mountaineering.
Giripremi’s mountaineer and the First Maharashtrian to scale Five 8000er mountains, Ashish Mane received this award in 2018. He scaled Mt. Everest in 2012, Mt. Lhotse in 2021, Mt. Makalu in 2024, Mt. Manaslu in 2017 and Mt. Kangchenjunga in 2019.
Girimitra Sammelan Awards
In Maharashtra, there are about 150 to 200 mountaineering clubs and groups with a combined estimated strength of thousands of mountaineers. Maharashtra Seva Sangh, Mulund, took the lead. In consultation with some of the mountaineers, came up a concept of organizing the Girimitra Sammelan and the maiden Girimitra Sammelan was conducted in 2001.
Giripremi was fortunate to host Girimitra Sammelan in 2018, just an year before the grand success of Giripremi’s Kangchenjunga Eco Expedition 2019.
Giripremi has received the prestigious ‘Girimitra Giryarohan Sanstha Sanmaan’ at 18th Girimitra Sammelan in 2019. Giripremi received this award for invaluable contribution in the mountaineering.
